The State Meet is the most important cross country meet of the year. With this in mind, the days leading up to the state meet were full of nervous excitement. I had ran my best time the week before on my home course at the Metro meet, with a time of 18:19. This PR was just what I needed to get excited and pumped for the state meet approaching in only 6 days.

Hammond, Louisiana: Under near optimal conditions, the 2009 STA-Rollete Invitational played host to a new LA#1 season performance in sophomore Matt Rice who recorded a time of 15:24 over the three mile course, while SSA senior Angela Laborde moved up to LA#3 with a time of 18:18, leading her team to a victory over 5A rivals Mt. Carmel 43-52 in the process.
The STA Cross Country Camp started on Friday at 3:30 p.m. with the team bus ride to Covey Rise Lodge in Husser, Louisiana. The kids were kind of quiet and tired after a long day at school, and had no idea what was in store for the weekend of the 2009 STA CC Camp.
