AMAIRI ASHFORD CROSSES THE LINE IN THE LHSAA CLASS 3A STATE OUTDOOR 200m!
What a race!
Imagine being in a regular season 200m race with your teammate. Together, you go 1-2 and run the fastest two times in the whole state for the entire season. That's exactly what happened on April 13 as Scotlandville's Sade Gray and Makeriah Harris ran in their last tune-up before the championship season at the Andrew B. Davis Relays.
Gray (23.73) came away with the win, and Harris was the runner-up (23.76).
No two La. HS teammates have ever run faster in one 200m race.
Yet another amazing thing to note is that they are both juniors!
Three of the state's top 10 La. HS girls 200m sprinters four had their fastest time at the LHSAA State Outdoor Meet. Of those, Patrick Taylor's Amairi Ashford (pictured above)had the fastest time with a 24.30. That was good enough for a No. 3 ranking and a LHSAA Class 3A state championship.
