New Iberia's Jorri Daniels had the longest jump of the year at the LHSAA District 3-5A Meet. His leap of 24-6 was almost two feet further than his second best jump of the year  which came in his third place finish at the LHSAA Class 5A State Championships. 

The most consistent jumper in the state in 2023 was Scotlandville All-American Broderick Davis. Davis jumped over 23 feet five of seven meets during the 2023 season. During the season, Davis had a best of 24-1.75. Earlier this month, Davis had a wind-aided personal record of 24-5.25 at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor. 

Daniels and Davis were part of a group of 12 jumpers in the state who hit the 23-0 barrier. 

Scotlandville sophomore Ferzell Shepard (23-11.25), Dutchtown's Montrell Morris (23-7), and Westlake's Tristan Goodly (23-4.5) round out the Top Five. 

Of the state's top five long jumpers, the top three will return in 2024.
