JESUIT'S BRADY MULLEN (RIGHT) SPRINTS TO THE LINE AT THE TEXAS DISTANCE FESTIVAL!
Three of the top four 3200m times in the state this season were run in one race--the LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Championships. In that race, Jesuit's Patrick Dowd and Robert Buisson went 1-2 with Dowd winning (9:14.49) and Buisson (9:21.59) not far behind.
Joining the Blue Jays on the podium was Captain Shreve's Evan Johnson, who finished third with a 9:28.98.
However, those performances--and all other 3200m performances in the last 41 years--pale in comparison to Brady Mullen's 8:59.21 at RunningLane Championships last Friday night. The last Louisiana high school distance runner to break 9:00 in the 3200m was Bonnabel's John Ratcliffe, who ran a time of 8:53 in 1982.
Another thing Mullen has going for him is his youth. He is only a sophomore. Dowd, Buisson, and Johnson are all seniors.
