
RUSTON'S JADA WILLIAMS SPRINTS TO A 400m WIN AT THE YELLOW JACKET RELAYS IN MARCH!
The one lap queen in 2022 was Ruston's Jada Williams, who saved her best for last, running a 55.31 at the LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Meet last momth. Williams is headed to Texas Christian University, but seven of the top 10 in the state will return in 2023.
Of the the seven in the top 10 returning, there are two freshmen. Slidell freshmen Angel Jefferson (56.09) posted the third fastest time in the state in the Region 2-5A Meet. She finished second in that race to Scotlandville's Layden Jack, who won the race with a 55.80. Jack returns for her senior year in 2023.
The other freshmen making the top 10 is Barbe's Kenndie Burks with a 57.33. She is just ahead of St. Thomas Aquinas' Breanna Becerra, who finished at No. 11 with a best of 57.46. Becerra will move on to compete collegiately at the University of South Alabama.
