JESUIT'S MICHAEL VOCKE CELEBRATES AS HE SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS HIS 1600m STATE TITLE!
To be the man, you have to beat THE MAN. And make no mistake about it, when it comes to the 1600 meters in Louisiana high school track and field, Jesuit sophomore Michael Vocke is--indeed--the man. Despite being the defending champion, Vocke thrives off those who doubt his ability and runs with a chip on his shoulder.
Listed as No. 3 in the rankings because Zachary's Rhen Langley and his Jesuit teammate Leland Crawford have posted faster times, until they are able to beat Vocke when it counts--at a state meet. The Blue Jay sophomore is No. 1 in our book.
Langley and Crawford will have their chance next year. Most of the remaining runners in the top 10 are graduating and moving on to the next level.
