KALI MAGANA COMPETES AT THE 2023 NIKE INDOOR NATIONALS

After the graduation of Dutchtown's Rachel Fereday in May, there will be a new Queen of the Half Mile in Louisiana for the 2024 season, but who will it be? While we don't have the answer just yet there are two seniors who have separated themselves based on their body of work last season.

Louise S. McGehee's Kali Magana made the most of her return last season after sitting out in 2022 due to transfer rules. Her indoor 800m time of 2:14.61 leads all returners heading into the 2024 season. Nationally, Magana's time ranks No. 47. 

If John Curtis' London Parker has taught us anything over the last three years, it's that Magana is going to have fight to earn the top spot in the rankings. Parker, who had a season best last year of 2:19.99 at the LSU Last Chance Qualifier, has a history of bringing out the best in her competition. Just ask Ferreday.
