JESUIT'S LELAND CRAWFORD COMPETES IN THE 2021 LHSAA STATE XC MEET

     One thing is clear in looking at the Top 200 Super Sophomores in the state of Louisiana. The Jesuit Blue Jays dominance in distance running is not going away anytime soon. But there are a few other teams in the state loaded with young talent.

      Leland Crawford was not only THE best freshman distance runner in the state last year. He was one of the best in the nation. Only five freshmen in the nation ran the 1600m faster than Crawford's 4:15.19, which he posted at the Texas Distance Festival.

      The crazy thing is, while Crawford finished tenth at the 2021 LHSAA State Cross Country Meet with a (15:58.60), he wasn't Jesuit's fastest freshman at the meet. That distinction went to teammate Brady Mullen, who finished three seconds ahead of Crawford with a time of 15:55.40.

      Jesuit has five other runners in the Top 100 Super Sophomore list.
