Geaux Tigers: LSU Nabs Nation's #2 110mH In Damion Thomas Todd Grasley Nov 12, 2016

Perennial power LSU dipped into the Sunshine State and grabbed the nation's #2 110mH Damion Thomas of Northeast High School. Thomas owns a personal best of 13.42 and is a two-time 4A state champion in that event and was runner-up as a freshman in 2014. On the international level, he is the 2016 CARIFTA Games gold medalist and was a member of the IAAF World U20 Championship team for Jamaica. He posted the fastest time of the prelims, 13.48 (-0.8m/s) and looked like a sure fire medal pick before falling in the next round. We caught up with him to talk about his decision and plans for the 2017 track season.

Rockledge senior Danielle Phillips is one of the most versatile athletes in the state combining her prowess in the hurdles with her success in the long and triple jump. After finishing runner-up at the 2A state championship the past two years, Phillips comes in with the best time in the state for 2014. She is the only jumper to go over 20 feet on the list, a mark she set at last year's Cape Coast Conference Championships. On the boys side, Olympia's Alex Gomez is also a multi-event standout. The 4A runner-up in 2013, he is the lone returnee to soar over 24 feet.

5:52PM EDT October 25. 2012 - Lolo Jones took the next step Thursday toward making the U.S. Olympic team in a second sport. The hurdles star was named to the U.S. bobsled team Thursday morning as a push athlete. Jones finished second in a team selection race with pilot Jazmine Fenlator on Saturday. "This is a breath of fresh air — cool, very cool, cold air," Jones said.
