BATON ROUGE -- Lady Tiger Rachael Graham and Tigers Brett Borne and Drew Haro were honored Saturday for their accomplishments during the 2006 cross country season, as Graham was named the Louisiana Women's Runner of the Year, Borne was tabbed the Men's Freshman of the Year and Haro was named to the men's all-state team by the LAWA.
Graham, a junior from Greenwell Springs, La., was the Lady Tigers' No. 1 finisher in five of the six races in which she competed. She posted a pair of top-10 finishes on the year, winning the LSU Tiger Festival and finishing ninth at the Lobo Invitational.
In addition, Graham posted a season-best 6K time of 21:45.01 at the SEC Championships and earned a top-30 finish at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships, placing 29th overall with a time of 21:54.9.
Borne, a native of Covington, La., scored for the Tigers in four of their six races, including the SEC and NCAA South Central Regional Championships. He was LSU No. 2 finisher at the conference championships, clocking a personal best 8K time of 26:08.34. Borne's top 10K time of the year (32:13.1) came at the Chile Pepper Festival.
Haro, a senior from New Orleans, was the Tigers' No. 1 finisher in five races this season. He finished among the top-30 at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships, placing 29th overall with a 10K time of 31:29.7.
In addition, Haro posted the fastest 8K time by a Tiger athlete this season, clocking 24:21.86 at the highly-competitive Auburn Invitational to place 11th overall. His top finish of the year was a fifth-place showing at the LSU Tiger Festival.
