LSU Cross Country Team Competes at NCAA Regional

 BATON ROUGE -- The LSU men's and women's cross country teams concluded their 2010 seasons Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regional. The men's team placed 14th, tallying 378 points. The Lady Tigers finished 16th with 378 points as well.

 
No. 11 Arkansas easily took home the men's team title, racking up 30 points. Texas followed with 66 points.
 
In the women's race, No. 25 Texas picked up the meet win with 43 points. Rice grabbed the other automatic NCAA Championship berth, placing second with 72 points.
 
TCU's Festus Kigen took home the men's individual title with a 10k time of 30 minutes, 11.1 seconds. Nicole Mericle of Rice won the women's race, finishing the 6k course in 20:16.3.
 
Senior Richard Chautin closed out his LSU career with a 31st-place finish, running a 31.20.3. The next Tiger to finish was junior Cullen Doody who finished 88th with a time of 33:17.1.
 
"Richard ran a great race," said cross country coachMark Elliott. "He has been very consistent all year. However, the rest of the team did not have a good race. They just did not have a good day."
 
Seniors Tim LandryAlan Sticker and Kyle Hecker also concluded their LSU careers Saturday in Waco, Texas. Landry ran a 33:22.7, finishing 89th while Sticker placed 104th, clocking a 34:33.6. Hecker finished 110th in 35:34.8. Sophomore Roger Cooke collected a 107th-place finish with a time of 34:52.9.
 
On the women's side, sophomore Dakota Goodman led the Lady Tigers with a 60th-place finish in a time of 22:12.9. Junior Laura Carleton placed 67th, putting up a time of 22:19.2.
 
"The women competed very well," Elliott said. "Dakota and Laura ran very well and had great races."
 
Sophomores Charlene LipseyLeigh-Ann Naccari and Brea Goodman were the next three Lady Tigers to finish. Lipsey finished 86th with a time of 22:57.7 and Naccari placed 92nd in 23:06.0. Goodman collected a 98th-place finish while clocking a 23:17.1.
 
Lauren Ybarzabal, the lone senior to run for the Tigers, rounded out the top 100 with a time of 23:19.4, while sophomore Laura Aleman came in 122nd while running a 24:37.4.
