LUCY THOMAS PULLS AWAY FROM MICHELLE DAIGLE AT THE 2024 LHSAA STATE XC CHAMPIONSHIPS
St. Joseph's Michelle Daigle came into the 2024 LHSAA State Cross Country Championships after arguably the best regular season in Louisiana history. But it was Baton Rouge junior Lucy Thomas who pulled the upset winning her second state championship with a time of 17:25.
It wasn't that Thomas won. She had picked up her first state championship in May at the LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Championships in the 3200m with a time of 10:57. She was also the runner-up at the 2023 LHSAA Cross Country Championships with a time of 17:52.
It was the way Thomas won... coming back from an injury in late summer.
