The 2028 girls' class is primed to make an impact at district. In the sprints, Destiny Harrison of Liberty Magnet has emerged as a force early on, topping both the 100m (12.35) and 200m (25.20). She's been unchallenged in both races so far, and with times that would already be competitive at the postseason level, she's clearly one to watch.
St. Joseph's freshman Amalia Terry-Lee has also shown strong range. She's currently second in the 100m (12.52) and fourth in the 200m (26.07), stacking wins in early-season meets. Lafayette High's Alaya Archangel (12.55) and Walker's Nyla Riggins (12.57) round out a deep top five in the short sprints.
In the 400m, Lafayette High's Riley Siner stands out as one of only two freshmen under 58 seconds with her 57.38 from the Oil City Relays. Warren Easton's Aaliyah Lane (57.88) is right behind her and both have the talent to go 56 low this year.
