IT'S GOOD! ADDISON RICHEY SAILS OVER THE BAR AT AN INDOOR MEET AT LSU'S CARL MADDOX FIELD HOUSE

When University of Arkansas' Addison Richey took a selfie with her brother, Jeremi, in the bleachers at Bernie Moore Stadium after her winning her first state championship as a junior at Teurlings Catholic in May of 2023, she didn't know that it would be the last time the two would get to celebrate together after a competition.
Tragically, Jeremi Richey, passed away over July Fourth in 2023 as the result of an accident on a Florida beach.

Later that summer, Richey allowed MileSplit LA's state editor Jerry Byrd the opportunity to visit with her about the tragedy.
"He will have the best seat in the house," Richey said at the time.

Using her brother's death as motivation, Richey certainly made big brother proud as she moved from good to great in 2024. The "coming out party" was the McNeese Indoor No. 2 Meet where Richey improved by over a foot and cleared 13-3...seemingly jumping in the rafters at the McNeese Recreation Complex.

The jumped moved her to No. 6 all-time in Louisiana history and had her at No. 11 in the nation.
Outdoors, Richey continued her winning ways going undefeated in the high school season. She jumped a personal record 13-6 at the Tom Nolan Relays before winning her third consecutive state championship with a 13-1.5 at the LHSAA Class 4A State Outdoor Championships.
