With the 2014 LSU High School Classic being cancelled earlier this month, we have recieved many anxious emails and questions concerning whether the facility will be ready in time for the LSU HS Qualifier on January 25th. We were able to catch up with LSU jumps coach Todd Lane, who puts some of these questions at rest, as well as lets us know what to expect from this new facility at Baton Rouge.

The 2013 XC season ended this week in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Although some athletes are preparing to make a final trip to national meets such as Nike South (TX) or Footlocker regionals (NC), the majority of runners will begin to make preparations for the Indoor track season. Looking back on Natchitoches, there was many emotional moments for the athletes at the state meet: titles were stolen in final meters, teams found their way to the podium that few expected to be there, streaks were extended, runners hit the wall, while others sprinted to victory in state-wide surprise.

Our final rankings for the 2013 XC season are based off of what these teams did at the State Championships, when it really mattered. We went ahead and scored the teams out from first to last and this is what we came up with...
There were lots of upsets at the 2013 LHSAA State Championships! One of the biggest has to be our 5A girl's predicitions. We genuinely thought it was going to be a dog fight between Mandeville and St. Joseph Academy. The outcome? Well, neither of these teams even made the podium. It just goes to show, when it comes to Championship season, all bets are off. When it comes down to it, all the previous rankings are irrevelant in comparison. The 2013 Louisiana State Cross-Country Championships began in Natchitoches yesterday afternoon with the running of the small school classifications (B,C,1A, & 2A).
