Anything can happen when runners take the line at the 2024 LHSAA State Cross Country Championships in Natchitoches, but looking at the entries in Division 5 it appears--for the most part-- history will repeat itself.

Highland Baptist's Tyler Blissett, who is the the two-time defending champion in D5, should win his third consecutive title on Monday. His season best of 14:49 at the Pete Boudreaux '59 Catholic Invitational is over a minute and a half faster than his closest competition.

Winning by large margins is nothing new for Blissett, last year he ran a 15:27 and beat out his friend, Westminster Christian's Owen Melancon, by 59 seconds.

Blissett isn't the only D5 runner who will more than likely win their third consecutive title. Add Christ Episcopal School's Noah Watson to that number.

Watson (18:40), a junior, won the D5 Region 3 Championships by 31 seconds. She also led her squad to the team championship. The Wildcats will be looking to get back on top after Highland Baptist edged them out by three points, 41-44, at last year's state meet.

It could be a clean sweep for the Wildcats, if the boys' team, led by senior Ryder Clark, can hold off region 3 foe St. Martin's. At the D5 Region 3 Championships, CES held off St. Martin's winning by a slim seven-point margin, 32-39.

MILESPLIT LA PREDICTIONS:

Tyler Blissett and Noah Watson both win their third consecutive State Championship.

Christ Episcopal School sweeps both the girls and boys D5 team titles.
