RUSTON'S EDEN DAWSEY (92) RUNS WITH LEAD PACK AT D1 REGION 1 MEET
Day one of "Regional Week" in Louisiana is in the books and it's time to take a look and see how MileSplit LA did on the regional predictions.
D1 Region 1
It was a humid, foggy, and muddy run through the pines at Ruston's Lincoln Parish Park where the chalk held as the Ruston girls, led by Freshman Eden Dawsey, came away with the win. In the boys' race, Parkway sophomore Brennan Robin ran away with the boys individual title and helped the Panthers win only their second regional championship in school history. It has been eight years since Parkway won regionals in 2016, which was the first year regionals were held. MileSplit LA correctly picked both the Ruston girls and Parkway boys to win.

D2 Region 1
MileSplit LA thought the Cougars of St. Thomas More would sweep this division, but David Thibodaux STEM had other plans as the Bulldogs, led by Barret Richard's runner-up finish (16:14), pulled off the win in the boys division. West Ouachita's Jack Kelley won the boys individual title with a 15:27. STM, the defending LHSAA D2 girls' state champions, did come away with the win in the girls division. Once again, the Cougars were led by 2023 LHSAA D2 state champion Camryn Haik, who ran a time of 18:40 and won by 25 seconds.
D2 Region 2
While MileSplit LA incorrectly predicted a sweep in D2 Region 1, we did predict E.D. White's sweep in D2 Region 2. Junior Samuel Waguespack (17:36) finished fourth to lead the boys to victory. E.D. White's boys placed all five scoring runners in the top 13 and 50 second split. Morgan City's Noah Lange was the individual boys' winner with a time of 17:16.
On the girls' side, E.D. White's Elizabeth Rodrigue (20:00) won the girls title and led her team to the regional title. E.D. White placed five girls in the top eight.
D3 Region 1
MileSplit LA incorrectly predicted that Loyola College Prep would defend their title from a year ago. Sterlington, led by Chey Bridges (16:48), knocked off the Flyers. St. Louis' Deacon Stantz (16:07) won the individual boys' title.
In the girls' race, MileSplit LA had St. Louis winning and the Saints, led by Sydney Guinn (19:58), came through. St. Louis placed three runners in the top five and all five scoring runners in the top 14.
D4 Region 1
In this region, MileSplit LA incorrectly predicted another sweep. We thought that Holy Savior Menard would take home the hardware. However, D'Arbonne Woods Charter, led by senior Aiden Smith (17:45), took home the boys' title. DWCS had all five scoring runners finish in the top 17. Cedar Creek freshman Luke Anderson won the individual boys' regional title with a time of 16:41.
In the girls' division, it was St. Frederick, led by individual girls' winner Bradie Eppinette(19:03), took home the team championship.
D4 Region 2
MileSplit LA correctly picked Westminster Christian Academy on the boys side. WCA was led by Owen Melancon (15:38), who won the boys race. On the girls side, MileSplit LA incorrectly predicted Ascension Episcopal. Instead, it was Bell City who scored the 40-52 upset. Bell City was led by sophomore Caroline Guidry, who finished third with a 20:51. Hathaway's Kaitlyn Sawyer won the girls race by over a minute and a half with a time of 18:34.
D4 Region 3
MileSplit LA correctly picked Metairie Park Country Day to sweep the region. The boys and girls scored dominant wins. The MPCD boys, led by Christian Myers (16:08), scored 23 points. The girls' team, led by regional champion Coco Goldenberg (18:38), scored 29 points.
