Destrehan's Duo Makes '24 Debut!
Two of the best athletes in the state will be making their 2024 at the LSU High School Qualifier. They just so happen to go to the same school--Destrehan. And they are both juniors. Of course we are talking about Marley Richard and Phillip Wright.
RACE VIDEO! Germain Smith-Mata Runs US#1! 6.73!
Things may be bigger in Texas, but Warren Easton's Germain Smith-Mata is out to prove that they are faster in Louisiana. Last Saturday at the Carl Lewis Invitational, Smith-Mata sprinted his way to a US No. 1 ranking with a 6.73 in the 60m. That race got the bad taste out of his mouth from finishing second to Atascocita's Jelani Watkins at the LSU High School Classic.

Parkway Miler Fastest Freshman in the Nation!
What a month it has been for Parkway's Brennan Robin. First, he wins his first indoor race of high school career at the LSU High School Classic. Then, he goes up to Fayetteville and runs the fastest mile time in the nation for freshmen. What will he do this weekend? We don't know the answer to that but we will definitely be watching.
MileSplit FAQ: Zachary's Talar Johnson!
Last year, as a freshman, it took everything Zachary's Talar Johnson had to get out of the tough Region 2-5A Meet and qualify for the LHSAA State Outdoor Meet. She needed her best time of the season and she got it running 11.93 to finish fourth and advance to state. At the state meet, she proved the moment was not too big for her as she finished as the state runner-up.
Who Will Fly With The Eagles?
No doubt the buzz after the LSU High School Classic was the performance of Parkview Baptist 3200m runners--freshman Lucy Cramer and Aiden Monistere. Cramer (10:58), running alone, broke both the meet record and composite fieldhouse record in the 3200m. Monistere followed in the boys 3200m giving the Eagles a sweep in the event. Both are scheduled to run in the 1600m tomorrow and--unlike the Classic-- should find competition to produce outstanding times.
Demetria Harris Breaks TJ Record In Event Debut
Last week in her season opener, Huntington's Demetria Harris broke the McNeese St. Indoor No. 1 meet record in the triple. It was her first time competing in the event. She is entered in the event again this week at the LSU High School Qualifier.
A'Shyria Burns Breaks LJ Record At McNeese Indoor No. 1!
Menard's A'Shyria Burns broke the record in the long jump at the McNeese Indoor No. 1 last Saturday. She will step up in class this week as many of the best long jumpers in the state are entered in the long jump at the LSU High School Qualifier.
Baton Rouge Magnet Girls Double Trouble in Classic 1600m!
Baton Rouge Magnet was the only school at the LSU Indoor Classic which went 1-2 in an event--thanks to senior Natalie Venkataraman and sophomore Lucy Thomas, who owned the 1600m. In this article, you will see the race video and how it played out. Both will attempt a distance double (1600m and 3200m) on Saturday!
John Curtis high jumper Addilyn Dufrene
Maybe Addilyn Dufrene is a name you haven't heard of. That's probably because she had to sit out last year when she transferred to John Curtis. The sophomore is one of the state's top high jumpers and because she won the MileSplit LA Performer of the Week poll last week, she will be on our end of the year MileSplit LA Girls Indoor Athlete of the Year. Keep an eye on her.

We cannot wait to watch the girls 400m at the LSU High School Qualifier. Three very talented sprinters--all from the same city--Lake Charles, Louisiana. Of course we are talking about Barbe's Kennedi Burks, St. Louis' Hannah Boullion, and Lake Charles College Prep's Jayla Mason. We finally get what we have been waiting for...all three in the same race.
