Over her high school career, we have witnessed Lake Charles College Prep's Jayla Mason do some incredible things. You would be hard pressed to find anything more incredible than her anchor leg on the 4x200m relay at February's LHSAA State Indoor Championships

MileSplit LA photographer Kyle Valdez captured the moment a the finish line when Mason moved past the anchor leg from St. Louis Catholic--willing her Chargers to a state title with a time of 1:45.47. St. Louis finished second with a time of 1:45.48.

Mason has begun her senior year at LCCP with several visits and a few offers. She had visited Southern University, Northwestern State University, McNeese State University, Stephen F. Austin, and Oklahoma State University. 

As for the picture itself, it includes all of the elements you find when attending a high school meet in the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse--athletes watching, athletes competing, spectators, and the all-important meet officials. 

The picture was taken by Kyle Valdez who is the longest tenured photographer on the MileSplit LA team. Valdez is a recent graduate of LSU.
