Cajuns Fall Short in Last Chance Meet

Natchitoches, La. – Select members of Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team had one final chance to qualify for the NCAA Regional Meet. The Cajuns had some strong performances on Saturday but unfortunately none of the Cajuns were able to qualify.

Kelvan Turner finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 10.84. Louis Stevens missed qualifying for the Regional Meet by .04 seconds in the 110m hurdles. Stacey Fuller won the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.32.

On the women’s side Jasmine Manuel won the 100m hurdle with a time of 14.18. Kristen Meche and Jerri Ann Sills took second and third in the javelin throw. Meche was second with a throw of 40.71m and Sills was third with a throw of 36.27m.

The Cajuns already have five qualifiers for the Regional Meet on May 25. The five Cajuns that have qualified are as follows; Chris Roy (Pole Vault), Antwain Keyes (High Jump), Roderick Houston (100m), Taryn Simmons (400m Hurdles), Jasmine Manuel (Triple Jump).
