  TEMPE, Ariz. - Lady Tiger senior Brieanna Kennedyadded nearly two feet to her personal bests in the hammer and discus throws to highlight 14 personal-best performances by the LSU Track & Field teams at the inaugural Arizona State Tri-Meet held Saturday afternoon at Sun Angel Stadium.  

OXFORD, Miss. – The Nicholls State University women's track and field team is continuing to perform well in meets, claiming at least one gold medal in every meet so far, this time coming from Jaimee Springer who placed first in the women's javelin throw as many Colonels set new personal bests at the Mississippi Open this weekend.

MOBILE, Ala. – Four individual athletes and the men's relay teams took home event victories Saturday for Southeastern Louisiana at the USA Invitational in Mobile, Ala.

KNOXVILLE, TN – McNeese State's Mariah Georgetown won the heptathlon at the University of Tennessee hosted SeaRay Relays with a  school record 5,099 points Thursday.

MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s and women’s track teams wrapped up their fourth meet of the 2012 outdoor season at the 12th annual USA Invitational on Saturday hosted by the University of South Alabama. The meet was held at the Jaguar track facility in Mobile.

STANFORD, Calif. -- Competing against some of the top distance runners in the nation, junior Daniel Mutai clocked a time of 29.10.20 to finish second in the 10,000-meter run Section Two late Friday night. The time is the second fastest in the Sun Belt this season and was a personal best for Mutai while also breaking the school record.

AUSTIN, Texas - Never in the storied history of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays had a collegiate team walked away with four women's relay championships in a single event until the Lady Tigers made history during Saturday's finale at Mike A. Myers Stadium as they claimed the title of Most Outstanding Team in the 85th running of one of the premier events of the outdoor season.

The Trafton Academy girls and the St. Paul's boys captured team titles in Wednesday's Ponchatoula HIgh-Trafton Academy Junior High Invitational held at the Swamp in Ponchatoula. Four local athletes earned MVP honors to lead their teams also. The Trafton girls scored (204) to take the title over Denham Springs JH(94), St. Scholastica Academy was third(82.50), St. Joseph's was fourth(57), Holy Ghost fifth(25), Harvest Christian sixth(12) and Mater Dolorosa seventh(9.50).  On the boys side, St. Paul's hauled in (231), while Denham Springs JH was second(106), Trafton Academy was third(57), Holy Ghost fourth(40), Harvest Christian fifth(34) and Mater Dolorosa sixth(12).

Severe weather around the San Diego State Sports Deck shortened the Saturday (March 17) program, but six Green Wave competitors were able to compete in the outdoor opener.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Tigers and Lady Tigers set the track on fire in Sunday's finale at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships while combining for six event titles on the final day of competition at the Nutter Field House on the campus of the University of Kentucky.

BATON ROUGE - Perhaps no athlete in the NCAA has displayed the level of consistency and improvement during the 2012 indoor season quite like Lady Tiger sophomore Denise Hinton as she threw a new personal best in the weight throw for the sixth-straight meet while shattering her own school record during Friday's LSU Twilight at the Carl Maddox Field House.

BATON ROUGE – Together for the first time this season, the Northwestern State women’s 4x400 relay team ran away from the field with a winning 3:48.86 mark that was more than five seconds ahead of the second-fastest time Friday night at the LSU Twilight indoor track and field meet in the Carl Maddox Field House.

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana junior Brittany Pfantz missed tying the school indoor pole vault record by less than one inch at the LSU Twilight meet Friday in Baton Rouge, La.

DENVER - Louisiana Tech’s Trey Hadnot and Chelsea Hayes were once again named the WAC track and field athletes of the week after more record-setting performances from the duo.

  Runners from New Orleans journeyed to the West Bank for the 24th Annual Run on the Bayou at Bayou Segnette Park. Under cool and windy conditions, runners battled for top position as Matt Manning and Andy Barton changed leads on several occasions until Andy was able to pull away on the last straight in a kicker which would leave him two seconds ahead of Matt in a time of 32:28 to 32:30. In the women’s race, Megan Gohres would lead for a majority of the way before Charlotte Everhardt would make a late charge and reel her in to win in 38:25 to Megan’s 38:37.  

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - A pair of career-best performances highlighted the second day of competition for the Tulane track and field program at the Tyson Invitational. Estefany Cruz and Candice St. Etienne each posted top-ten finishes in their respective events at the Randal Tyson Track Complex on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

On the night of February 11, 2012, runners from around Louisiana and in some cases the US traveled to Fontainebleau State Park for the running of the Q50 Valentine Midnight 10K.  In freezing conditions, the runners began the race with headlights in hand, whistles around neck, violin tunes in ear, and the enthusiastic chants to Cesar the Q50 race directing wonder in their adrenalin packed legs..

  On Saturday, Feb. 11, runners gathered in Covington, La. to participate in the Abbey Monk Trail Run 5K and 1-mile Fun Run at St. Joseph Abbey. While the weather at 8 a.m. may have been cold, it certainly did not keep away the interested runners, as there were more people in attendance than the previous year. 

Last weekend was not only especially windy and cold, but it also marked the second annual Rouge Orleans Ultra Marathon and Relay. For those of you unfamiliar with this race, let me break it down for you. You compete as a solo runner or in teams of two, three or six. Your team alternates running all the way from Baton Rouge to New Orleans, which is a meager 126.2 miles. 

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The No. 2-ranked Lady Tigers went out with a bang in Saturday's finale of the 2012 Tyson Invitational by dominating the invitational 4x400-meter relay with the NCAA-leading time of 3 minutes, 31.55 seconds to take the title at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Louisiana Tech’s Chelsea Hayes set two school records and reclaimed the national lead in the long jump at the Tyson Invitational on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville Friday.

BIRMINGHAM – Northwestern State’s Wayne Douglas took sixth in the men’s long jump Friday night at the Vulcan Invitational indoor track and field meet hosted by Alabama-Birmingham, with the bulk of the competition set for Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Junior All-American Damar Forbes certainly lived up to his billing as an NCAA Championships contender in the men's long jump with another dominating victory Friday night at the 2012 Tyson Invitational as he emerged as the new NCAA leader with his mark of 26 feet, 7 ¾ inches to highlight the action at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Tulane track and field program got a very good test during the opening day of the Tyson Invitational, with six different student-athletes competing inside the Randal Tyson Track Complex. The meet features six of the top-ten squads in the country and nine of the top 25 teams.

NEW YORK - The LSU Track & Field teams added a pair of event championships with two of the NCAA's leading performances by senior Michael Lauro in the men's weight throw and junior Kimberlyn Duncan in the women's 200-meter dash while wrapping up the 2012 New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday night at The Armory Track & Field Center.

A day after hosting the Jeff Davis Bank/McNeese Indoor II at the McNeese recreation complex, the team hosted the high school version on Saturday.

The McNeese State track team hosted the Jeff Davis/McNeese Indoor track meet Friday at the McNeese recreation complex, the second meet hosted by the team this season. The team broke several records in the meet including a shot put record that was broken by two Cowgirl throwers.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The ULM track & field squads turned in a solid performance Saturday at the Texas Tech Indoor Open inside the Athletic Training Center. The ULM men turned in eight top-five performances on the day while the women turned in two.

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Loyola University New Orleans track team concluded their indoor season yesterday at the McNeese Jeff Davis Bank Indoor Invitational. The event hosted by McNeese State took place inside the Ralph O. Ward Rec-Complex.

NEW ORLEANS - When the Tulane track and field program awoke for their second day of competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, they were greeted with eight inches of snow. That frigid weather didn't affect their performance on the oval inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center on the University of Nebraska campus as they captured eight top-ten finishes on the final day of the event.  

LAKE CHARLES – First place finishes by Keyera Thomas, Jordan Clark, Keenan Jackson and Lawana Perkins led the Northwestern State indoor track and field teams at the Jeff Davis Bank McNeese Indoor II on Friday.

The Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field squads took in their final meet before a weekend off by participating in the Jeff Davis/McNeese Indoor track meet Friday at the McNeese recreation complex in Lake Charles.
