Warren Easton Makes History at District 11-4A Meet!


Warren Easton made history on Tuesday at the District 11-4A Track & Field Meet. The Eagles soared to sweep the meet for the first time in school history. For the girls' team, it was the team's first win in over two decades.

The Warren Easton boys ran away with the team title scoring 230 points, 128 points more than runner-up McDonough 35.

In the girls' division, the competition was tighter. Warren Easton scored 196 points, nine more than runner-up Cabrini. 

Not only did the Eagles sweep the team titles. They also swept the MVP trophies as well. Freshman hurdler Khai Brown, who was the 2024 MileSplit LA Indoor Athlete of the Year, won the MVP in the girls' division. 

In the boys' division, senior Germain Smith-Mata took home the meet's MVP hardware.

Brown won the 100m hurdles (15.73), 300m hurdles (46.03), ran a leg on Warren Easton's 4x200 (1:41.01) and 4x400 (4:12.38). 

Other Warren Easton girls leaving with a gold medal included freshman Dai'jah Robertson (25.05) in the 200m, LA Destiny Davis (78-5) in the discus, 

Smith-Mata won the 100m (10.63), 200m (22.42), 400m (48.90), and ran a leg on Warren Easton's 4x400m (3:24.48).

Other Warren Easton boys coming away with individual district titles. 

Jeron Bickham in the 110m hurdles (15.59) and 300m hurdles (42.77), Jalan Chatman in the shot put (39-8.5) and discus (78-6), Greg Donaldson in the javelin (131-10), Miles Torres in the long jump (22-1),  Gerard Hall in the high jump (5-10), Jalen Nelson in the pole vault (8-6).
