The Ragin' Cajuns track and field team will take eight competitors to Regionals in Greensboro, N.C., on the UNC-A&T campus this weekend to compete for a spot in the National Championships.
Participating for the Cajuns will be Chris Roy, Kirsten Meche, Jasmine Anderson, Garrett Harkless, O'Daylon Thibeaux, Jacob Domingue, Jeffrey Vidacovich and Jasmine Manuel. Each athlete has excelled for the Cajuns in their particular area so far this season, with many of them winning events. Roy is an accomplished pole vaulter who has his sights set on a national championship. Harkless, Domingue and Vidacovich have done well in throws, while Anderson and Manuel are better at track events like sprints and hurdles. Meche throws the javelin. Thibeaux was the Sun Belt Conference freshman of the year after his performance at the conference meet in the triple jump. In fact, Thibeaux is one of two Cajuns to qualify for the Junior Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa. He will have a chance to compete for the United States in the Junior Worlds as a triple jumper.
