La.'s Top 11 Athletes: No. 7 Jaleyia Woods

WOODLAWN'S JALEYIA WOODS COMES THROUGH THE LINE AT THE LSU HS QUALIFIER IN 2025

There were some fun storylines during the 2025 La. High School indoor season. At the top the list was the battle between the "Killer B's"-- Barbe's Kennedi Burks and St. Louis Catholic's Hannah Boullion, who ended up No. 1 and No. 2 respectively all-time in Louisiana history.

Honestly, the youngster at No. 3 in the rankings, Woodlawn's Jaleyia Woods, did not get enough attention for her accomplishments as she became the fastest sophomore in Louisiana indoor history with her time of 55.44 at the LHSAA State Indoor Meet as she pushed Burks to best ever performance for a La. high school female.

Nothing about Woods' opener in 2025 at the LSU High School Classic screamed super star. She finished No. 36 with a time of 1:04.76.

She shaved seven seconds off her time in her second outing at the LSU High School Qualifier finishing second with a time of 57.37. In her final two meets of the 2025 indoor season she was under 56 seconds.

Amazingly, her 2025 indoor best of 55.44 is over a second faster than the No. 2 all-time by a Louisiana high school sophomore-McDonough #35's Marcquita Stalbert's 56.51 in 2012.

Nationally, Woods was ranked No. 8 in the nation among sophomores in 2025, and is ranked No. 33 in the nation among all returners in the event heading into 2026.
