WATCH THE 2024 AAU JUNIOR OLYMPICS LIVE!

The AAU National Junior Olympics are underway in Greensboro, North Carolina and there are several Louisiana high school athletes who look to come home with All-American medals or-perhaps-a national title.

The meet, which traditionally marks the end of the summer age-group schedule, began on Saturday with multi-events. That leads us to our first athlete from Louisiana to keep and eye on.

Addilyn Dufrene (John Curtis)-- Competing in the 17-18 girls heptathlon, Dufrene is the No. 12 seed with 4000 points.

A'shyria Burns (Menard)-- Burns is seeded in the top ten in two events. In the 100m, Burns is seeded No. 6 with a time of 11.89. In the 100m hurdles, Burns is seeded No. 9 with a time of 14.54.

Lina Mills Zacapa (Leesville)-- Mills-Zacapa is seeded No. 11 in the 1500m with a time of 5:08.93.

Noah Watson (Christ Episcopal School)-- Watson in the No. 5 seed in the 3000m with a time of 11:18.72.

Cierra Cammon (Lutcher)- Cammon is seeded No. 6 in the high jump with a jump of 5-4.75, only 1.25 inch off the No. 1 seed in the event. Cammon is also seeded No. 23 in the triple jump with a mark of 17-11.25.

Hannah Rose (Cabrini)--Coming off an impressive performance at the AAU Club Championships, Rose is seeded No. 4 in the womens' 17-18 javelin with a throw of 121-2.25.

Morgan David (Barbe)-- David is seeded No. 10 in the 17-18 womens' javelin with a throw of 113-10.

Taylor Hankton (Broadmoor) - Hankton is seeded No. 15 in the womens' 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.20.

While the depth of the representation in the 15-16 girls does not match the older age group, there are a few girls who are looking to make some noise.

Jaleyia Woods (Woodlawn--BR)--Woods is ranked No. 17 in the 400m with a time of 56.26.

Mackenzie Hayes (Madisonville)--Hayes is among several girls in the high jump coming in with a seeded height of 5-0. With the No. 1 seed jumping 5-6, if Hayes can jump a personal record in North Carolina, she might come home with an All-American medal.

Grace Keene (Northshore)--Keene is seeded No. 8 in the 15-16 girls' 1500m with a time of 4:57.
