Keelei Dorsey, King Taylor Win MileSplit POTW Poll!

JOHN CURTIS' KING TAYLOR CROSSES THE LINE AFTER WINNING THE 5A 400m AT STATE!

Congratulations to Lafayette's Keelei Dorsey and John Curtis' King Taylor. They were the winners in the MileSplit LA Performer of the Week poll for the week of April 28th. Both Dorsey and Taylor will advance to be finalists in next week's MileSplit LA Outdoor Athlete of the Year poll.

Dorsey had 52.8% of the vote in the MileSplit LA Girls' Performer of the Week poll which amounted to 5,113 votes. Barbe's Aniyah Lavan was the runner-up on the poll with 32.96% of the vote (3,192 votes.)

Taylor had won the MileSplit LA Boys' Performer Of the Week poll with 42.07% of the vote (6.730) votes. His closest competition in the poll was Central Lafourche's Kaden Adams, who finished as the runner-up with 29.53% of the vote (4,724 votes).

Dorsey made the poll by winning the Region 1-5A 800m with a personal record time of 2:20.06. At the 2024 LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Championships she finished sixth with a time of 2:21.62.

Taylor made the ballot by running a state-leading time of 47.56 at the Region 3-5A Meet. He would go on to lower that time at the 2024 LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Championships by running a time of 47.13.

Taylor ran in his first 400m in late March. He never lost a race, and lowered his time in the event every time he stepped on the track.
