MileSplit LA FAQ: Menard's A'Shyria Burns!


In our first, MileSplit LA FAQ series, we get to know Holy Savior Menard's A'Shyria Burns, who will begin her junior year later this month.

How did you get involved in track and field? 

Burns: Track and field has always been my passion.

What is your favorite thing about the sport of track and field?

Burns: Competing and improving.

What accomplishment/meet/performance are you most proud of? 

Burns: At our state meet in May I received MVP. 

What is the main thing your coach has done to help you become the best that you can be?

Burns: Helping me by instructing me to improve to do better.

How has your family supported you during your track and field career?

Burns: My family has been tremendously awesome throughout my sports career.

What is your favorite event and why is it your favorite?

Burns: 100 hurdles, the competitiveness and speed you must maintain.

What are your goals for this season?

Burns: To be the best at whatever I strive and put my mind to.

If you could change one thing about track and field, what would it be?

Burns: I enjoy everything about it.

Is there a competitor you love competing against more than others? Who is it, and what is it about competing against them?

Burns: No one in particular, I just love challenges.

What is your favorite meet and why is it your favorite? 

Burns: LSU meetings indoor and outdoor.
