Parkview Baptist's Molly Cramer Chasing Health in 2024

Over the past year, Parkview Baptist's Molly Cramer has an endured a painful year of running. Cramer's mother detailed the journey in a social media post as her daughter had a procedure to remove her gallbladder.

On top of all of the pain experienced during competition and training, Cramer had to deal with a transition from Episcopal to Parkview Baptist.

Earlier this month, Cramer and her older sister Lucy, sat down for an interview. The interview is below.

Below is the post from Kate Cramer. MileSplit LA is including it in this article with permission from the Cramer family.

"Only those closest to us know what Molly has been through the past 12 months.

What started as chronic diarrhea and GI issues, turned into episodes of severe upper abdominal pain that literally caused Molly to be unable to breathe.

Her first episode started in a training run last December 2022, and she had her first full blown Gallbladder attack in her very first indoor high school track meet about 2400 meters into her 3200m in January.

She finished the last 800m hunched over, jogging, crying, holding her right side, barely able to breathe. We thought she was having an asthma attack, as she also suffers from severe asthma.

After racing indoor and outdoor track seasons, not knowing if she'd be able to run without pain or be able to breathe, and racing state outdoor meet unable to warmup and cooldown due to the pain in her stomach and back, due to these sporadic attacks, we had to see her doctor and get her help and answers!!

When we had Molly's first blood test run in August, her levels were all over the place, especially her iron. She was only functioning on 6% iron saturation.

So, all fall XC season this year, Molly has raced some, skipped some races and had weekly tests run...in the last 4 months she has had 3 full blood tests, abdominal and liver CT scans, ultrasounds, and MRIs, a HIDA Scan, an endoscopy and done a 48 hour fast and cleanse...

Through countless testing and help from all of her doctors, they discovered that Molly has biliary dyskinesia (gallbladder disorder) and she has been having random gallbladder attacks all year, which leave you feeling as if a knife is cutting you under your right ribcage and leaves you breathless like you are having a heart attack.

This is what Molly tried to explain to us after countless races and we felt so helpless that we couldn't figure out what was going on, nor make it better.

This morning, Molly had a cholecystectomy to remove her gallbladder.
We are praying so many prayers for her that she will no longer have to suffer through all of her GI issues and will be able to run with only the normal pain that comes from pushing hard.

We love you sweet girl @molly_cramer_runs"
