A pair of racewalkers from Gretna, La. gave the Bayou State it's first two All-Americans on Sunday at the AAU National Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa.
Representing the NOLA Rush Track Club, Joseph Gillenwater finished fourth in the 15-16 boys' 3,000 meter racewalk (19:39.78). Gillenwater shared the podium with his teammate, Cruz Gallegos, who finished fifth with a time of 20:07.75.
On the women's side, St. John Legends' Ciera Cammon completed the women's 17-18 heptathlon in 23rd place with 3,244 points. Cammon's top performances included clearing 1.50 meters (4-11) in the high jump, jumping 5.08 meters (16-8) in the long jump and throwing the javelin 21.88 meters (71-9). She also recorded times of 16.02 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and a DNF in the 800 meters.
