McNeese Indoor No. 2: 6 Potential Record Breakers

EMMA SMITH BROKE THE MEET RECORD AT THE FIRST MCNEESE. SHE WILL TRY IT AGAIN SATURDAY

Week No. 4 gets under way tomorrow at the McNeese Indoor No. 2. After looking through the heat sheets, we have identified five athletes with potential to break meet records.

1. KALEB BIGWOOD (HAMILTON CHRISTIAN)

Bigwood set the meet record last year at the McNeese Indoor No. 2 with a time of 48.79. But this is his senior year, so you know Bigwood will do everything in his ability to make in last indoor performance in his hometown something special.

2. BRENNAN ROBIN (PARKWAY)

Like Bigwood, Robin is going after a record that was broken last year. Parkview Baptist's Aiden Monistere holds the record with a 9:37. Robin has run the 1600m twice this season. He ran a 4:16 to win the LSU High School Classic. He followed that up by going even lower at the Carl Lewis Invitational where he ran a 4:14. Saturday's 3200m will be his first attempt at the longer distance...if Robin is allowed to compete. Bossier Parish schools have been out all week due to the conditions left behind by Winter Storm Fern. Parkway head coach Kent Falting said that district officials will decide on Friday afternoon if Robin and his teammates are allowed to travel to Lake Charles on Saturday morning.

3. KAITLYN SAWYER (HATHAWAY)

Hathaway ran a time of 5:10.27 last Saturday at the LSU High School Qualifier. The meet record at the McNeese Indoor No. 2 is 5:10.44 in 2017. If Hathaway is going to break the record, she may have to go it alone.

4. LUCY CRAMER (PARKVIEW BAPTIST)

Cramer is scheduled to compete in the 800m on Saturday. The meet record in the event is 2:18.13 by Halyn Senegal in 2020. Cramer ran a time of 2:17.61 at last year's LHSAA State Indoor Championships when she finished second to Madison Prep's Dynasty Wilfred

5. EMMA SMITH (DELCAMBRE)

As you can see in the picture above, Smith broke the meet record in the first McNeese Indoor Meet. She will try to do it again tomorrow. The meet record is 5-8 set by Farah Reeves in 2019. Smith has cleared that height in both of her first two meets of the season and currently leads the state. Will she be able to have a season best and claim yet another meet record?

6NOELLE WILLIAMS (ALEXANDRIA)

At the first McNeese Indoor Meet, ASH's Noelle Williams had a triple jump a season best of 37-9. 5. That is less than two inches away from the meet record at the McNeese Indoor No. 2 set last season by LSU's Marley Richard.
