DIVISION I BOYS:
As it stands, Catholic High looks to be a solid favorite to win this year's indoor championship. The ability of both its distance squads and relays really bring this team together and make it possible to pull out a win. Its distance runners allow this program to offset the advances of Zachary and its weapon, Rhen Langley, and the relays allow for the same effect against the other top sprint programs in the state. The factor that could truly secure a victory for the Grizzlies could be senior Winston Decuir. We know that he has the ability to run faster times in the 400m and 800m, so it will be interesting to see how he pans out this Saturday.
DIVISION I BOY TRACK MVP:
Rhen Langley of Zachary could take on the arduous task of the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m triple. He tried this last year and came away with two podium finishes and a grand total of 18 points attributed to his team's score. This year, he's performed even better and looks untouchable in these events; however, fatigue from these three events may catch up to him quickly. Although it may be difficult, it would not be surprising to see Langley walk away from this meet with 20+ points.
DIVISION I BOY FIELD MVP:
Though it is hard to not give this prediction to Broderick Davis of Scotlandville, the name that is deserving of this title is Montrell Morris of Dutchtown. Davis spreads out his talent between both the field and track exceptionally well, but in terms of solely field competition, Montrell Morris takes the cake by a hair. Morris is the favorite to win both the long and triple jump and has faced off against Davis multiple times in the past. As the season looks thus far, Morris will most likely be leaving LSU's campus with two gold medals around his neck and a total of 20 points.
