Jack Kelley had incredible junior campaign! Just look at the jump he made from a year ago where he finished the state cross country meet a time of 16:45. On Monday, Kelley showed just how far he has come--and he came very close to winning his first state championship.
It came down to the last 300 meters on the track at the Walter P. Ledet Track & Field Complex, and as Kelley hit the track surface with
David Thibodaux's
Jackson Jarrett in his sights, for a few seconds it appeared that the race would come down to a photo finish--or even Kelley upsetting the defending Division 2 champion, but Jarrett dug deep and was able to hold on.
Congratulations to Jarrett, but congratulations to Kelley, who finished No. 54 in Division 1 last year.
