BOYS' WEEKLY RANKINGS 9/20:
Rank | Team | Last Meet | Previous Ranking | Details |
| The Southern Showcase | 1 | The Blue Jays had their varsity debut in Alabama and took the team title in the championship division. This team is off to an even better start than they were last year when they debuted at this meet. Not only did they win the championship division, but they won ALL FOUR divisions of this meet.
| Dominican/Holy Cross Invitational | 2 | Brother Martin did what they do best once again with its pack-running mentality. The team was more spread out this past weekend, but not far enough to where they couldn't snag the team title. The 1-3 pack of Levy, Regan, and Calico is hard to beat, especially when a quartet of interchangeable runners backs them up.
| 3 | |||
| 4 | |||
| 5 | |||
| LCA Knights Invitational | 7 | Teurlings delivered yet another strong 1-2 finish with 2xJude (Guidry and Greenman). The top four were all within a minute from each other with a slight drop-off at their fifth runner. A great performance by this team and they, by far, stole the team title for this meet.
| 20 | Holy Cross finally made its season debut and skyrocketed back into the top ten on these rankings. Volpe and Baldassaro ran well together in the front pack, followed very closely by Davis. Though the team had a great debut, they took 2nd behind Brother Martin.
| 9 | |||
| 10 | This week St. Michael had a very strong 1-3 with Bankston, Nizzo, and the freshman Cooper Hunt. Hunt seems to be improving every race and looks to be a more impactful runner as he garners some more race experience. On top of that, this team's 1-5 split is about 55 seconds which speaks for itself. St. Michael's stock is quickly rising, keep an eye out for this team.
| 11 | |||
| 13 | Zachary took 2nd behind St. Michael despite not having Rhen Langley once again. Despite this, the team had a 1-5 split of 60 seconds and has promise for the rest of the season, as a fair amount of their top runners are continually improving.
| 12 | This was a great improvement in Acadiana's performances in comparison to the team's previous race. Several of the team's runners dropped significant amounts of time, however, some individuals lost ground on how they ran previously. Either way, this performance was strong enough for the team to take 2nd, edging out D'Arbonne Woods.
| 2022 BSN Sports Invitational | 6 | This performance was off for Parkview Baptist. The main reason for this is the drop-off in time and closeness of its runners, however, the team was missing one of its top runners, Kohl Feucht. This was still a strong performance for this team and even proved that they can still win meets with a man down.
| 8 | This meet was not great for the Trojans. What signified them as such a formidable team among the other top programs in the state was their extreme closeness between its runners. This was not the case for this meet and we saw a much more significant gap between its athletes than usual. This could very well be an outlier performance, so don't bank on this result routinely from Central Lafourche.
| 14 | |||
| 29 | D'Arbonne Woods stepped up its game this weekend by placing 3rd in Lafayette. We saw more familiar performances from D'Arbonne's top dogs, which featured a heavy 1-2 punch from Valesquez and Futch, followed up by Ramsey. The weakness this team has solely lies in the gap between its top three runners and the two others that round out the top five.
| NR | Though St. Thomas More took 5th as a team behind Erath, we still believe that the team ranks above when accounting for the rest of the state. STM is a very young team, with only two upperclassmen among the top seven. Alongside the season debut of Habetz, S. Thomas More's potential has shot up even more.
| 28 | Belle Chasse had a strong showing this weekend after its 3rd place finish and individual title, however, the team still shows great vulnerability when it comes to the gap between its runners. It cannot be ignored, however, the individual strength of its runners.
| 15 | |||
| NR | This was a huge race for Lafayette. The team ran together very well, having its top three runners all within 9 seconds of each other. On top of that, the team had a follow-up group of three additional runners that was not too far behind from the team leaders. These may not be the most stellar of times, but the closeness shown between these runners was a great step up for this program.
| Nicholls Invitational | 16 | Vandebilt won the meet, on top of having two of the best runners for 5k in the field. This is all good and well, but some stronger performances were expected out of some of the other members of the team. Given that all days cannot be "great" days, this was still perhaps sub-par of Vandebilt's routine performance.
| 17 | |||
| 2022 Warhawk Invitational | NR | West Monroe handily took home the win at its debut meet and have finally earned its spot on this ranking. The team heavily benefits from its low-stick Landon Spears and attempts to fill in the gaps where it can. This team is YOUNG. The top seven consist of 3 freshmen, 2 sophomores, and 2 juniors. This team has plenty of room to grow throughout the season. Do not underestimate them.
| 30 | Erath is on an upward trend after this weekend. The team took 4th after a collection of season bests, especially from the team's final three runners that close out the top five. This improvement is shooting Erath up in the rankings and now the only feature that could be dramatically improved is the coupling of Dax Boudreaux and Braxton Bright.
| DHS Yellow Jacket Dash | 23 | Dutchtown took 3rd thanks to a tight finish between Anthony Bucci and Mason Heffernan. This team is led by young runners, so keep an eye out for any large improvements from these boys as they gather more experience under their belt.
| 19 | David Thibodaux STEM did not have their best performance out on the grass this weekend, however, this is solely due to the loss of a crucial low-stick, Atticus Solis. The absence was very apparent as the team scores spoke for themselves. Despite this, the team had some great individual improvements and leads us to believe that there is more to offer later in the season.
| 18 | |||
| 25 | Hahnville secured 4th this weekend after a collection of season bests. This team performed well and even though the team moved down in the rankings, it's only a result of other teams making a dramatic jump upwards.
| 22 | |||
| 21 | We're still missing some key players from Mandeville. Jacketti and Rosenau were MIA, which could lead us to believe that they are out of commission. Though this is a possibility, I would hold off from any accusations, especially this early in the season. |
Just missed: Pineville, Baton Rouge High, St. Paul's School
