Watch Mobile Challenge of Champions Race Video

Louisiana has found a future star in Jesuit freshman Michael Vocke this outdoor season.  He debuted this season with an impressive 9:28 3200m at Catholic High Tip-Off, and now has dropped a 4:21 full Mile to place 6th at the Mobile Challenge of Champions over the weekend.

Vocke's mark ranks him 3rd in the state of Louisiana with a converted 4:19.85 1600m mark as well as No. 1 nationally for freshmen in the 1600m/Mile.  His 3200m from earlier in the season ranks 2nd in the country as well.

Just how good as Vocke's marks been this season?  He only ranks behind St. Paul's great Eric Costen, who ran 4:16 in the 1600m as a freshman at the LHSAA State Championships.  His 3200m mark is already the best all-time for Lousiana freshman, according to our database.
