After winning the 100 meter hurdles at the Texas Southern Relays in a wind-legal US No. 1 performance of 13.77 seconds last week and following that up with another improvement and sole possession of the national leaderboard on Friday in the prelims at the Sugar Bowl Classic, Alia Armstrong had another level to go--believe it or not--Saturday in the finals.
The St. Katharine Drexel Prep senior rolled to a meet record and jaw dropping US No. 1 performance of 13.37 (+2.0 wind reading) to blow away the top times in the country as well as this weekend's best (13.59 from Emelia Chatfield of St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida).
To add onto her deserving title as the running events MVP of the 2019 Sugar Bowl Classic, Armstrong doubled shortly back to win the girls 400 meter dash finals as well in a 55.26 PR.
