LADY LIONS EARN THIRD PLACE FINISH AT LSU FESTIVAL

BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Louisiana women's cross country team earned a third-place finish at the Tiger Cross Country Festival Saturday morning at the Highland Road Park.

The Lady Lions finished in third place with a team score of 107 points. Southeastern had top-10 performances from Dorcas Kipkai and Everlyne Montoyei to pace their third place finish.

Kipkai finished fifth with a time of 22:08.78, followed closely by Montoyei's 22:32.87 time over the 6K course, which was good for seventh place. McNeese State's Tinette Burger won the individual title with a time of 21:45.10.

Other participants for the Lady Lions were Jaylnn McDonald (25:53.98, 31st), Courtney Schultheis (27:45.07, 40th), Michelle Kay (28:02.29, 42nd) and Judith Schultheis (28:49.89, 44th). Tulane won the overall title with a total score of 27 points, followed by LSU (57 points), Southeastern, Louisiana-Lafayette (111 points), McNeese State (114 points) and Nicholls State (126 points).

"Overall, I was pleased with how we performed today and we hope we can continue to improve," Southeastern head coach Sean Brady said. "The addition of Dorcas and Everlyne will help our team tremendously throughout the season."

Members of the and women's team will be back in action on Oct. 13 at the Mississippi College Invitational in Clinton, Miss. and the Chili Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
