HOUSTON - The Tulane Women's Track & Field team jumped up in the standings in the final day of the 2007 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Senior Gloria Asumnu, won the 100m dash with a time of 11.32 seconds, and placed second in the 200m dash, posting a time of 23.24.
Sophomore Shaina Pelham picked up a point for the Wave in the 100m dash, placing eighth with a time of 12.06.
Tulane's 4x100 relay team came in second as the quartet turned in a time of 44.74. The Green Wave's 4x400 relay team also placed second, as Pelham, sophomore Jasmine Momoh, freshman Olivia Kizzee and junior Shanon Beelendorf tuened in a time of 3:41.89, giving the Wave eight more points in the standings.
Junior Aubrey Phillips was sixth in the 5000m run, with a time of 17:43, while fellow junior distance runner Keriann Langley placed ninth (17:52.32).
In the field events, freshman Nicolette Taku came in fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.37m while senior Christina Tegbe finished 12th with a leap of 11.70m.
Tulane moved up four spots from Saturday, finishing in seventh place with 50 points, three points back of sixth. The host Rice Owls won the C-USA championship at their own Rice Soccer & Track Stadium. The Green Wave improved their standing three spots from last year's finish, increasing their point total by 12.
