With the exception of a few teams that were unaffected by Hurricane Isaac this past weekend, most schools will be opening up their XC seasons on Saturday morning.
The largest and most pertinent to Louisiana will be that of the Bayou Boogie Invitational in Baton Rouge. On the boy’s side, preseason #1 Catholic, #3 St. Paul’s , #5 Episcopal as well as girl’s #2 St. Joseph’s, #6 Sacred Heart, #9 Menard, and #10 Episcopal will be clashing to do injustices to our ranking systems.
In Hammond the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational will showcase the boy’s #8 in St. Thomas Aquinas and girl’s #5 in Mandeville as well as the number #1 retuning individual in First Baptist’s Gabrielle Jennings who is rumored to be making a push for sub 18 minutes.
In Mobile, Brother Martin, seeded LA #6, will be making a go to defend their title at the prestigious Challenge of Cahmpions. This meet will also feature the girl’s #3 Mt. Carmel, #4 Fontainebleau, and #8 Parkway.
In St. Francisville, the boys #7 (Walker) and #9 (St. Thomas More) will be taking it to the hills near West Feliciana high school.
Finally, in New Orleans #2 Jesuit will be trying to make an argument for the #1 spot, while the girls current #1 (Dominican) will be trying to prove that they deserve to be top of the poll.
