McNeese athletes participate in track meets in California

McNeese State\'s Michelle Rzepka and Nicholas Kay won events at track meets in California on Saturday.

Rzepka won the women\'s pole vault event at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA Saturday with a school and career best vault of 13-7.

She broke her own record of 13-3 1/2 that she had set only a week ago at the Texas Relays.

Kay won the men\'s steeplechase event at the Pomona-Pitzer track meet held at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. He posted a 9:12.92 clocking for the victory.

Also in the meet at Pomona College, Barry Hill turned in a 3:57.39 for 26th place in the 1500 meter run and Damien Bateman posted a 4:02.3 in the same event for 48th place.

Cowboy pole vaulter Jimmie Heath had been scheduled to perform in the Mt. SAC Relays but withdrew because of a wrist injury.

Rain hampered the meet throughout the week and force cancellation of Friday\'s round of pole vaulting
