Dillon Landry, Dylan Callahan Win MileSplit LA POTW!

IOTA'S DYLAN CALLAHAN COMPETES IN THE 300m HURDLES AT LAST YEAR'S LHSAA STATE MEET

Congratulations to St. Joseph's Dillon Landry and Iota's Dylan Callahan. They are this week's MileSplit LA Performers Of The Week. Both athletes will advance to make the ballot for MileSplit LA Outdoor Athlete Of The Year which will come out at the end of the season.

Landry got 38% of the vote (31,433) to edge out Mt. Carmel distance runner Stella Junius (29,160 votes).

Callahan had almost 45% of the vote (22,349 votes). Acadiana sprinter Omari "Speedy" Dupas, who is coming off a Region 1-5A 100m championship, was second with 40% of the vote (20,249 votes).

Landry made the ballot by breaking the 12 second barrier in the 100m at the District 4-5 Meet where she ran a season best of 11.95 in the 100m. At the Region 2-5A Championships, Landry, a junior, survived and advanced by finishing third with a time of 11.98.

What a difference a year makes for Landry, who only competed in one meet--the CHS Tip Off Meet, where she ran a 12.95, a year ago. Of those who broke 13 seconds in 2023, Landry ranks as the most improved sprinter in Louisiana.

Landry also qualified for the LHSAA State Meet in the 200m after she finished third with a time of 25.19. It is her second best time of the season.

For the third week in a row, Callahan swept the hurdle events at the Region 1-3A Meet. He won both the 110m hurdles (15.33) and 300m hurdles (39.85). He made the MileSplit LA Performer Of The Week poll by doing the exact same thing at the District 4-3A Meet.

Callahan  could make it four in a row at the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships. He is ranked No. 1 in both events in Class 3A heading into Saturday's meet.
