LAFAYETTE'S KEELEI DORSEY LEADS THE FIRST LAP OF THE REGION 1-5A 800m
Below, you will find the finalists for MileSplit LA Girls Performer Of The Week. Congratulations to all who made the ballot. The winner will move on to compete for MileSplit LA Girls Outdoor Athlete Of The Year. The poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.
LUCY THOMAS (BATON ROUGE) - The sophomore pulled of the distance double at the Region 2-5A championships in both the 1600m and 3200m. Thomas won the 1600m with a time of 5:08. She won the 3200m with a time of 10:57.
DILLON REIDENAUER (FONTAINEBLEAU) - Reidenauer has won eight out of nine pole vault competitions this season. Her latest win came at the Region 2-5A Meet where she jumped 11-6. Her season best is 12-6 at the St. Tammany Parish Meet.
ANIYAH LAVAN (BARBE) - The sophomore won two events at the Region 1-5A Meet. After finishing as a runner-up in the high jump last year to her teammate, Ariel Williams, Lavan claimed her first Region 1-5A championship with a jump of 5-4. She also won the long jump with a leap of 17-11.
KEELEI DORSEY (LAFAYETTE) - Was one of the reason the Lafayette Lady Lions were able to win their first Region 1-5A title since 2018. Dorsey held off her teammate, Shelby Burgin, to win the 800m with a time of 2:20.06.
LONDON PARKER (JOHN CURTIS) - The LHSAA Class 5A runner-up in the event, Parker successfully defended her Region 3-5A championship with her time of 2:20.20 at the meet.
MIA MAHONY (THE WILLOW SCHOOL) - At the Region 3-4A Meet, she won the triple jump with an effort of 36-2.5. Also, she ran 45.71 to finish second in the 300m hurdles.
KAYLEN RABALAIS (BUNKIE) - Ranked No.1 in the state with a throw of 151-7 at the LHSCA Meet of Champions, won her regional meet with a throw of 147-10.
BRITTANY BURTON (WOSSMAN) - Ranked No. 2 in Louisiana in the shot put, Burton won the Region 1-3A Meet with a throw of 38-3.5. Burton's season best is 40-4. She is only the second shot putter in the state to reach the 40 foot barrier during the 2024 season. Burton is ranked No.1 in LHSAA Class 3A by three feet.
LUCY CRAMER (PARKVIEW BAPTIST) - It's no surprise that Cramer won the 800m and 1600m at the Region 2-3A Meet. What is a surprise is that broke personal records in both distances at the same meet. Cramer won the 800m with a time of 2:16.17. She won the 3200m with a time of 10:57. Oh by the way, she finished second in the 1600m to her younger sister, Molly Cramer.
BRIANNA NEWTON (PLAIN DEALING) - The sophomore had a huge personal record in the shot put at the Region 1-1A Meet. Newton had a throw of 39-2.5 to move to No. 5 in Louisiana. In Class 1A, Newton ranks No. 2, but there is some question about the validity of Delhi Charter's Kimrey Thomas throw of 39-7 at the Franklin Parish Relays. It's the only time that Thomas has surpassed 35 feet all year.
