HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana junior Brittany Pfantz missed tying the school indoor pole vault record by less than one inch at the LSU Twilight meet Friday in Baton Rouge, La.
Pfantz, a DeRidder native, finished second after vaulting 3.83 meters (12-feet-06.75) to finish 0.5 inches shy of tying the record she set one month earlier. The second place finish was the highest finish by any Southeastern athlete competing in the meet.
In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the Lion and Lady Lion 'A' teams just missed tying the school by less than two seconds. The men's team of T.J. Herbert, Shaquell Windley,Abram Taylor and Shannon Grover placed second with a time of 3:18.53. The Lady Lion's team of Ambur Jones, Tamra Grayson, C'Arra Watts and Alicia Noel finished fourth with a time of 3:59.09.
Michelle Ogashi finished third in the women's triple jump with a distance of 11.82 m (38-09.50) and Joseph LeGrange place fourth in the 3000 meter run (9:15.76).
Southeastern athletes will qualifying marks will compete at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 24-25 in Norman, Okla. The first meet of the outdoor season is the Tulane Team Challenge March 1 in New Orleans, La.
