ULM\'s RIVERA AND BROPHY WIN AT TEXAS TECH

LUBBOCK, Texas --- Lilia Rivera and Matt Brophy picked up wins as the Louisiana Monroe track & field teams participated in the Wes Kittley Open at Texas Tech over the weekend.

\"We had a really good day, actually a phenomenal day,\" said ULM head coach J.D. MALONE. \"This meet gave us great competition with Texas Tech, TCU and SMU, and most of our competitors recorded personal bests.\"


Senior Lilia Rivera won the women\'s weight throw with a personal best of 50\' 4.50\" (15.35m). She placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 42\' 0.75\" (12.82m).


Junior Matt Brophy won the men\'s 800-meter run with a personal best of 1:54.48.


Freshman Kathleen Gancayco continues to improve her ULM record-setting mark in the pole vault with a jump of 10\'11.75\" (3.35m).


ULM\'s next competition will be February 17-18 at the 2006 Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet in Houston, Texas
