No three-peat for Demons 4x400 at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas -- A fifth place Friday night in the women's sprint medley relay and a sixth Saturday in the men's 4x200 meter relay turned out to be the weekend highlights for Northwestern State at the 84th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, since the Demons failed to record their third consecutive meet championship in the 4x400 meter relay.

Saturday, NSU's Michael Batts, Adam Smith, Karllis Perry and Mike Green ran a 1:25.24 for sixth in the 4x200, won by LSU in a meet record 1:20.45 time.

The 4x400 team of Batts, Green, Travis Plumb and Smith finished ninth in the nine-team final with a 3:16.33 time.

The Lady Demons got a fifth place Friday night in the sprint medley relay from Angelica Kotun, Constance Seibles, Consuela Lindsy and Andrea Warren, who ran a 3:58.75 clocking.

Saturday, Kotun, Seibles, Quiana Griffin and Lindsy ran eighth in the women's 4x200 with a 1:37.09 time. LSU won in 1:30.88.

For the second straight day, Lady Demons All-American Trecey Rew struggled with a second consecutive 13th-place finish. Saturday, she marked 49-5 1/2 on her first throw then fouled on the next two and did not advance to the finals in the shot put.

Next Saturday, Northwestern will complete in its first home meet of the spring, The Leon Johnson NSU Invitational at the Walter Ledet Track Complex.
