Jerrica Thomas Wins Fourth Straight Triple Jump Title at SFA Quad

 

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Senior Jerrica Thomas won her fourth consecutive triple jump title to pace the ULM track & field squad Saturday at the SFA Quad at Fletcher Garner Track. The Warhawks finished the day with five titles.

 

Thomas leapt 12.18 meters to earn the win in the triple jump. The mark was the fourth-best in the Sun Belt so far this season. Thomas now has two of the top four marks in the conference.

 

On the men's side, junior Richard McKay won his second javelin title of the season with a best throw of 66.91 meters. McKay's throw was the 23rdlongest in the NCAA so far this season.

 

Junior Josh Howard and senior Cruise Arvie finished one-two in the men's triple jump. Howard won the title with a best leap of 14.69 meters, while Arvie leapt 14.28 meters.

 

In addition, sophomore Daniel Mutai won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:19.23. Mutai's time was over 15 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Sophomore Clint Broussard rounded out the ULM titles with a mark of 2.05 meters to win the men's high jump.

 

Senior Brittni Jenkins just missed a title in the women's 200-meter dash with a runner-up finish. She clocked 24.39 to finish just behind Jasmine Anderson of UL-Lafayette (24.02).

 

Sophomore Nefertiti Beckett (high jump), sophomore Celeste Rumphs (long jump) and senior Lakeitha Elmore (shot put & discuss) also had runner-up finishes on the women's side.

 

Sophomore Dimitri Hampton (400-meter dash) and senior Jarvis Mansfield (110-meter hurdles) each recorded second-place finishes on the men's side.

 

The Warhawks travel to Austin, Texas next weekend for the prestigious Texas Relays which will take place Wednesday through Saturday.
