Louisiana Tech Completes Successful First Day at LSU Relays

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech advanced to the finals in seven events and Antoinette Cobb set a personal record in the 100m hurdles as Tech wrapped up competition on the first day of the LSU Relays in Baton Rouge.

Cobb's personal-best time of 13.40 in the 100m hurdles was the fastest hurdle time in the preliminary heats. Cobb advanced to the finals along with teammates Jesseka Jonesand Tiana Davis who ran 13.98 and 14.18, respectively.

The Lady Techsters also put three hurdlers in the finals of the 400m hurdles with Shante Benion's prelim time of 1:02.01 ranking third. Kia Vance ran 1:03.41 to finish sixth andJesseka Jones ran 1:04.90 to place ninth overall in the prelims.

In the men's hurdles, Billy Ray Walker ran 14.35 to advance to the 110m hurdles finals while Wade MaGaha ran 53.19 and Marcelles Atkinson ran 53.97 to advance to the 400m hurdles finals.

Tech's Jack Ramstad ran a 5k time of 15:24.75 to finish sixth.

In the field events, Chelsea Hayes jumped 18' 8" in the long jump to finish fifth and Tierah Hall threw 46' 3.25" in the shot put to place fifth. 

Jonathan Roque set a mark of 6' 4" in the high jump to place ninth overall.

Louisiana Tech closes the weekend out at the LSU Relays in preparation for the 83rd Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held in Austin, Texas on April 1-3.
