COACHES CONVERSATION: LHSAA's Adam Macdowell

ADAM MACDOWELL CONGRATULATES BRADY MULLEN AFTER HIS PERFORMANCE AT THE 2024 STATE MEET

If one thing was clear at the LHSCA Clinic last month, it's the need to to revamp Louisiana's qualification system for the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships. Coach Trent Ellis posed the question in a room with 71 track and field coaches for the across the state.

"How many of you are happy with the current system?"

Not one hand went up.

Natchitoches Central High School, led by athletic director Dean Johnson,  appears to be ready to propose a change which would get away from the current system to a one where rankings from quality meets throughout the season have a bigger impact on the athletes who make it to Bernie Moore Stadium for Louisiana track and field's big dance.

Johnson briefly spoke with the coaches about the proposed changes.

In this week's Coaches Conversation, Jerry Byrd visits with LHSAA Assistant Director Adam MacDowell to get his take on the situation.
