NORTH DESOTO'S JAVONTE TAYLOR PREPARES TO JUMP AT THE 2024 LHSAA STATE OUTDOOR MEET
Congratulations to North DeSoto's Javonte Taylor and University Lab's Cate Williamson. They are this week's MileSplit LA Performers of the Week! They will now move on to the ballot for MileSplit LA Indoor Athlete of the Year at the end of the season.
Taylor garnered 7,091 votes to win MileSplit LA Boys' Performer Of The Week. Scotlandville's Ashton Wiggins was the runner-up in the poll with 3,127 votes.
Williamson won the MileSplit LA Girls' Performer Of The Week by getting 11,330 votes. Lake Charles College Prep's Semaj Malveaux was the runner-up with 9,011 votes.
Taylor made the boys' ballot with his performance at the McNeese Indoor No. 2 last weekend. The only jumping event Taylor didn't compete in was the pole vault. Taylor finished second to Huntington's Landon Gibbs on fewer misses after they both cleared 6-4 in the high jump. Taylor also had a third place finish in the long jump where he had a best mark of 20-9.50. In the triple jump, he was the runner-up with a best of 44-11.5, a mark which is currently No. 5 in Louisiana.
Williamson made the ballot for picking up her first win of the season in the girls' 800m at the McNeese Indoor No. 2. She ran a personal record 2:22.50.
