The first week of the La. high school girls cross country season is in the books! We have our first ballot of the year for MileSplit LA Girls' XC Performer Of The Week.
MICHELLE DAIGLE (SJA)-- Daigle turned in a dominant performance at St. Michael's Bayou Boogie. Daigle won on a muddy track at Baton Rouge's Highland Park. Her time was 17:56--almost a minute faster than her closest competition.
MALLORY SWINT (C.E. Byrd)--Swint was an important part of C.E. Byrd's 2023 team, which was the best in school history. After losing four runners to graduation who are now competing at the next level, Swint's role has changed as she is the leader for Coach Juan Plaza's rebuild. Swint finished fourth at the UT-Tyler XC Opener with a 5K time of 22:41. Her efforts led the Lady Jackets to a runner-up finish.
HALLIE HEBERT (Ruston)-- Hebert finished second at the Little Rock XC Classic. Her time of 20:06 led the Lady Bearcats, who won the team championship.
EMBER PIERCE (Parkway)--Pierce broke the meet record in the girls' 4K race. It was something that Pierce and Parkway HC Kent Falting talked about going in.
GRACIE DAIGLE (ARCA)--Daigle ran a 21:24 5K at the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola, Florida. Daigle's performance helped her ARCA team to finish No.13 out of the competitive 25-team field.
CLAIRE ALLEN (Benton)--Like many North La. teams, Benton crossed the state line to open the 2024. The Tigers competed in the Bob Gravett Invitational in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Allen led the Lady Tigers with a fifth place finish. Allen's 5K time was 20:39 and helped Benton to a third place finish.
