MileSplit LA State Editor Jerry Byrd visited with recent Catholic graduate Paul Catalanatto, who took a business trip last week to Eugene, Oregon to compete in two track meets. In the latter, the Nike Outdoor Nationals, Catalanatto launched a throw of 222-7 to win his first national championship.
The soon-to-be LSU freshman also finished second in the U20 U.S. Championships and has met all of the qualifications to attend to the Word U20 Championships in Peru later this summer. However, Catalanatto is undecided on whether he will make the trip.
Hear what he had to say about his national championship, the decision to compete at the World U20 Championships, and what flavor ice cream he orders when he and his family walk to the ice cream shop after competing at Hayward Field.
